Not only is everything you say here hitting my current obsession/mission nail right on the head, but Draymond is from the same small Michigan town as me, so I have a deep affinity for all things Draymond. LOVE that you are looking outside the film business and drawing parallels, because there truly is a sea change happening in the way so many industries operate. Institutions are losing their grasp on the cultural narrative, and this is the opportunity for all of us to harness this power for ourselves. In film and far beyond.

So thrilled this is resonating with you Sean. One of the things we really are seeing on a macro-level is that entire industries our being shifted and reimagined in real time and so it would be a disservice and incredibly limiting not to gain inspiration from the creativity and innovation happening in other fields - especially one as beloved (and successful) as basketball/ sports. Very cool you guys are from the same town. And I (Taylor) daresay that institutions have already LOST their grasp on the cultural narrative and so their reaching for shadows in an effort to stay "on top," truly making NOW the time and "the opportunity for us to harness this power for ourselves. in film and far beyond." (LOVE THAT)

i agree with so much of what you say [even though I'm in the european film scene], I've been feeling but also talking with many creatives about the fatigue we feel with the 'game'. It frustrated me as a consumer but also as a filmmaker - people know they are being resold the same stories over and over again and its killing the cinema experience imo.

In the industry there's a fight over attention and everyone is scared viewers are not going to be engaged enough; its a legitimate concern but the solution [betting all on nostalgia, faster edits, and snappy lingo] is so shallow. I feel just as you guys, that new perspectives and narratives from people we dont often here is what actually captures and intrigues people.

I am still at the beginning of my career as a creative producer, but I feel like especially in the production department there is a lack of daring - I mean when did we all get into a creative field to be safe and take no risks, where is the art in that?

Have you found/worked with any like-minded people who have a similar outlook and would potentially want to do a movie? We truly think it starts with something as simple as 'team-building." Gathering a collective of just one or two other individuals with similar aspirations to say hey we've had enough of the cookie-cutter storytelling, we want CINEMA.

Definitely !!! I think the indie film scene has really been pushing the importance of new stories - I think most resistance comes from financing opportunities, when you can't self fund a film, but there are definetly ways and people who have your back in the community :))

Wow! I know I am not someone who lives in this world of creatives but I am glad you exist for us who seem to be riding the current but ultimately deep down want more. Thank you for my eyes being open to the possibility!
